Nielsen received her Bachelor’s of Social Work from the University of Wisconsin in 2016. During undergrad, Nielsen was elected Chair of Promoting Awareness Victim Empowerment, a student organization focused on campus violence prevention. As a Title IV-E grant recipient, she was trained in public child welfare. After graduation Nielsen worked as a child protection case manager in Dane County, Wisconsin.
Now a Master’s of Social Work candidate at the University of Michigan, Nielsen is committed to using her clinical experience to inform social justice-focused policy. She is a social policy & evaluation intern at the Center on Assets, Education, and Inclusion at the University of Michigan School of Social Work, developing research-based policy analysis under Dr. William Elliott III.
